It’s not just a race: It’s the training 6 days a week in all weathers, the travel, the people, the sacrifices, the money…. Just to get to the start line it takes a lot.

The hardest part of registration was resisting all the gorgeous kit in my favourite colours in the @ironmandenmark

Entry includes an Ironman 70.3 race backpack and t-shirt so I didn’t go without some merch. However those bib shorts and sports bra 😍😍😍

Last lake swim done before heading to Denmark on Monday for Ironman 70.3 Elsinore. I’m hoping to finish the 70.3 and then the full distance Ironman in Kalmar to get the extra special medal and title “Viking of the North”. It can only be achieved by completing a full and half Ironman triathlon in Scandinavia during the same calendar year 🔨

Treasure Hunt: A card with things to find on the walk, this will be offered at the beginning of the walk and isn’t just for kids! Focusing on finding things whilst walking can open your eyes to things you might miss as well as being a form of mindfulness - so can help relieve some stress.

Accessability: The walks are not wheel friendly, due to uneven surfaces with mud, tree roots and stiles.

Children’s tickets are free, they will need to walk with an adult who can carry them if needed.

Dogs must be kept on leads.

What to expect:
Arrive at the carpark by 9:20, get your walking footwear on, coats, backpacks, suncream, water bottle etc.

Find Lavinia at the meeting place. Lavinia will give a welcome brief and overview of the walk, hand out Treasure Hunt Cards (optional).

9:30 the walk will begin. We’ll then walk, everyone walks at difference paces, we’ll pause at stiles etc when needed to regroup and ensure no-one is left behind.

We’ll then return to the start point around 11am. Everyone is welcome to stay for a drink, cake and a chat in the cafe after.

Please bring suitable footwear for the weather.

After mechanical issues in race 1 and 2, then rain on race 3…. Sunday Race 4 was a dream. Fatigue hit in the last lap of the run on race 5!

A few problems cropped up but I’m glad they did as if they happened at Ironman 70.3 or Ironman I’ll be DNF.

Trialing a different saddle thanks to @discoverbikesuk & it’s booked in to have some work done on Thursday before I leave.

I leave for Denmark in 6 days. 😱

Starting a new career, hobby, relationship, moving somewhere new… can be scary, the imposter syndrome appears, self doubt, anxiety, the unknown, fear.

Those uncomfortable feelings in the middle as you leave the safety of the old you and navigate into the unknown.

Keep going, you are stronger than you know. A better, happier version of you is waiting for you, you just need to get through the uncomfortable part to reach her 💖 Remember why you started the journey and keep moving forward 💖

I’ve been struggling mentally recently the overwhelm of planning to be away for 6 months walking the length of Europe. Still waiting on vital information so I can plan the route etc regarding world records. Tiredness from Ironman training, it all mounts up. There is just a lot going on, which I am super grateful for this opportunity. To pull myself out of the hole I’m focusing on finding things whilst out training which bring happiness.

Here are 5 things from this weekend triathlon training:
1. I wore the 💩 suit to Park Run raise awareness of the N2S trip & challenge my comfort zone, made some people smile, I also told someone I was walking the U.K. (not Norway to Spain?!)

2. My nails matching my socks, matching my yoga mat, matching my smoothie

2. The cafe letting us sit out of the wind whilst we drank tea as I’d had enough of the wind, whilst they cleaned around us.

3. Chelsea buns 🍒🍒

4. Finding fishes all over Tetbury 🐟🐟

5. Smelling elderflower, I picked some to take home and it still smells wonderful 🌼

Now what is this weird torture device???

I’ve been struggling mentally with overwhelm, motivation and tiredness. My weekend Ironman training included a 2:45 hr run, 30 mins of yoga, followed by a 6 hr Brick the next day, with insane winds that were throwing the bike all over the road. After crying in a lay-by and then quickly moving as a creepy man pulled up smiling at me. I decided to look for 10 things, this gave me focus and got me out of my head (some are from the day before):

1. Cyclistist who have a massive 👍 and asked if I was ok?
2. The giant daisies blowing in the wind
3. People running a 100mile relay race with batons up a mile long steep hill
4. Getting a free Coconut Hot Chocolate
5. Park Run with a guy who described the course all the way around to keep his first timer friends going 😂 3 laps of “nearly there”
6. Weird concrete block in the woods
7. Sneaking my bike into @puregym_cirencester and getting a hug from gym friend who I’d not seen in months
8. Greggs wedges fitting in my cycling bag for the ride home
9. The LION in someone’s garden.
10. Awesome name on a gravestone “Axel Thor…”

10 mile TT (time trial) yes they look really intimidating, most people are wearing sperm helmets, have bikes worth more than my belongings and some even get paid todo it!

I didn’t think I’d like racing, I’m a slow and steady endurance girl. Last night was my 5th 10 miler and although I came 28/28 riders, I improved my 10 mile PB in horrible windy conditions, got to try out the @zone3official tri suit ready for Blenheim Palace Triathlon in 2 weeks time. I also had great fun screaming at pot holes and was even sick in my mouth! My front light is actually a head torch and I’m wearing Christmas socks, the funny thing is despite me not being very quick or pro I’m currently 2nd on the female leader board for the season because I turn up and finish🤣🤣🤣🤣 going to try a different location next week, see how serious and scary they are 🫣

1. Arrange to meet a friend for a run and determine the distance or time before you meet, so you hold each other accountable to the run, you’ll have a great time chatting and exercising. 👯👯‍♀️👯‍♂️

3. Book a race event which is out of your comfort zone (ran a 10k, book a 1/2 Marathon), now imagine yourself crossing the finish line 🏁 how will you feel? Could you raise money for charity? Giving yourself extra purpose will get you motivated for the challenge or charity, providing you with a higher level of motivation to get out running. 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

Today is #InflammatoryBowelDisease Day, I have Ulcerative Colitis which is a type of IBD the other being Crohn’s Disease. Ulcers form inside the large intestine, these ulcers bleed and are very painful, they cause diarrhoea. People don’t like talking about 💩 so it doesn’t get as much awareness as other diseases.

If you experience left sided abdominal pain, blood in your 💩 or urgency, please visit @crohnsandcolitisuk for a online symptom checker.

Learning to live with an incurable disease is hard. I decided to fight back and not let it stop me, I am experiencing a symptom in every one of these videos, except the last but I am carrying a spare pair of 🩲and 🧻 in my bike bag - this calms the “toilet anxiety” despite currently being in remission (symptom free) and very grateful for good health 💜

1. I goto a Park Run, which takes up the first 5km of my mind being distracted by other runners, I then run on to the nearby town or landmark

2. I break the time down and focus on each time section: eg Park Run 30mins, then run 45 mins down tow path, turn around and run 45 mins back to start point = 2 hour run and I only remember doing the last 45 mins!

3. I have reminders on my Garmin which tells me to drink every 10mins and eat every 2.5km, it gives me something to look forward to and focus on when struggling, plus it keeps me fuelled and finish not feeling depleted

What helps you?

15 weeks until I begin walking from Norway to Spain, the length of Europe!
Feeling a bit flat, negative and demotivated to be honest. I said I’d share as much as I could from behind the scenes and that has to include the harder times. Not that anything major has happened yet!

Gaining sponsorship is hard as companies either don’t respond or they say I need over 2000 followers. I’m sure I will have once I start but that’s not helpful for now when I’m trying to get all my ducks in a row!

Training for Ironman is taking longer and tbh making me tired 😂😂😂 what a surprise!!
The Ironman is a week before I start walking. I know doing both was just me overloading myself with challenges and I am very privileged to be in a position (rightly or wrongly) where I have no responsibility (the traditional kind most people do my age)- that’s not really how I’d imagined my life at 37 but here we are. I decided in January 2024 I could either be miserable about where I was at or make the most of it and create a new life for myself. So far everything I’ve visualised has come true. I need to keep focusing on my vision for this epic journey and for 2026. It’s not going to be easy, and I need to remind myself that.

This is also the purpose of these lives, so I can be honest and I can look back in a years time and say, “look at you, you kept going and you did it”.

After a very busy Easter week, trip to the Lake District, Easter Triathlon, moving out a work unit etc, my battery for doing stuff is low. August 2021: Yes you have Ulcerative Colitis, please get dressed you can go home 👋

It would take a further 5 days of me calling the hospital and Drs repeatedly for someone to look at my results, once a Dr looked they wanted me to go straight into hospital for IV steroids and told I shouldn’t have been sent home after the colonoscopy.

The first 6 weeks of IBD diagnosis were scary, stressful and I felt awful, I was signed off work but running a business meant I still had to work when I could from home.

Now I have an assigned IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) nurse which makes it a lot easier monitoring my health and medication. @crohnsandcolitisuk Charity website was a huge help for information. I read everything I could to understand what I was now living with. A day doesn’t go by without me thinking about it, every time I get some abdominal pain or think about certain food or take my medication. I’m grateful to of had the wake up call and value my life even more now. You could be running a 10k and then pooing blood on the side of the motorway 2 days later, life can change so quickly

Swimathon Part 3 ✅ By day 3 my body had odd aches and intermittent foot cramp, shoulders were aching a little for the last 100 lengths. However like meditation by brain just went somewhere else and this felt the quickest, I zoned out, sucked a @veloforte chew which I stuck to the top of my mouth, this eased my sore throat and meant I didn’t have to keep stopping for water. Before I knew it the lap counter was shouting “10 to go”. However like meditation by brain just went somewhere else and this felt the quickest, I zoned out, sucked a @veloforte chew which I stuck to the top of my mouth, this eased my sore throat and meant I didn’t have to keep stopping for water. Before I knew it the lap counter was shouting “10 to go”. Medal Monday: oh wait that’s my latest prescription of Pentasa 240 tablets for 60days, since doubling the dose I’m out of sync with Azathioprine prescription! Collected them on the way to Swindon for part 3 of the Swimathon. Still got a cold now with a cough, but I really enjoyed the swim and came out with 3 medals one for each 5km completed this weekend 🏅🏅🏅so amazed by what the body can do when the brain says “keep going” 🏊‍♀️
